Stretton Parish Council voted on the Local plan PSV 2021 at the monthly meeting on 4th October, unanimously rejecting its proposals based on;

  • Inappropriate use of a significant proportion of Green Belt in Stretton and not utilising available Brownfield sites first
  • Loss of identity for such an historic village as Stretton
  • Unacceptably high density of housing proposed
  • Inadequate infrastructure to support an over-ambitious and unnecessary growth plan

We have now formulated our full response and this can be found via the link under 'Local Plan 2021' page

Additionally, Stretton Parish Council has be working alongside neighbouring Parish Councils as part of the 'South Warrington Parishes' (SWP) Working Group in opposing the PSV. All Stretton residents should have receives an information leaflet detailing the Plan's contents and what it means for South Warrington

Five consultation events were held at the south stand concourse of the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Mike Gregory Way, WA2 7NE, on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 12 October (2pm - 8pm)
  • Thursday 14 October (8am - 2pm)
  • Saturday 16 October (10am - 4pm)
  • Monday 18 October (2pm - 8pm)
  • Wednesday 20 October (8am - 2pm)

To help residents in South Warrington understand the potential impact the plan could have on Stretton, without travelling to the Halliwell Stadium, the Parish Council also made details of the Plan available at St Matthew's Church Hall on Tuesday 26 October and Thursday 28 October (6pm - 9pm)
