Enforcement Notices

Warrington Borough Council undertake a number of different Enforcement actions, however Stretton Parish Council primarily get involved in Planning Enforcement issues, an outline of which is detailed below

Planning Enforcement Notices

What is Planning Enforcement?

Warrington Borough Council (WBC) can serve an ‘enforcement notice’ if something has been built that requires permission but you haven't gained permission before building

An 'enforcement notice' is an instruction to put the building or land back to how it was before any work had been completed and its a potentially expensive scenario

An enforcement notice can also be issued if planning approval been granted permission based on our instruction but it has been done differently

WBC take this action if it is considered that the work done isn't acceptable, is harmful to the environment or if the work is not in the public interest

What action does the Parish Council undertake?

The Parish Council is keen to ensure that building work completed within Stretton is done so with the correct planning approval

In instances where work is done, or is being done, without approval it is deemed 'unauthorised development' and The Parish Council will report the matter to WBC to enquire if the correct planning approval is held

If necessary, WBC will progress the enforcement notice, of which The Parish Council will continue to monitor progress, until remedial action is taken forward by WBC and/or the applicant
