Work of the Parish Council
What Does a Parish Council Do?
Below are just some of the activities the Parish Council is involved with
Planning
New Planning applications are considered by the Parish Council
as part of the Monthly Meeting Agenda. If required, it is
sometimes necessary to hold an Extraordinary Meeting. Notices for all meetings are published on the website and noticeboards

and litter picks
Our current projects are detailed on the Village Projects page, however if you wish to put forward a new project for the PC to consider, please do get in touch via the Clerk
Keeping Our Identity
The Parish Council is very keen to ensure that the historic village of Stretton does not lose its identity and is engaged in a projects to raise its local profile, with the installation of 6 village signs, situated near its boundaries and village planters
The PC also aims to protect the beautiful rural nature of Stretton for future generations, through balanced development and not over-development of the Green Belt

Twinkling Stretton
Stretton Parish Council initiated
the planting of two Christmas Trees and since 2009, have held Twinkling Stretton events in both Stretton and Lower Stretton, including turning on of the lights, carols around the tree and refreshments
The event reported reducing
numbers year on year pre-covid
but re-introduced it for 2023 on a smaller scale to gauge interest. Should residents wish this event to return in full please get in touch with the Clerk
The condition of the tree at
PGT is continuing to be
