All meetings of the Council and Committees are open to the public and have a period set aside on the Agenda for the public to voice concerns or ask questions at the start of the meeting. The format for the Public Forum can be found within our General Standing Orders
Background to Parish Council Meetings
The first meeting of the Stretton Parish Council was held on 17th December 1894 in the School Room. At the time of the meeting the Councillors were the main land owners within the Village, namely;
Joseph Smith - Vice Chair (Stretton Hall)
Faulkner
Brocklehurst (Treasurer)
Leather
Howard
Owen
Dodd - Chair
The Clerk was the School Master John Ellison, who was paid a salary from £11- £15 per year
Present day Councillor format has changed from the original concept of being land owners, but all the Councillors are just as passionate about their roles as the original Councillors back in the 19th century
