Public Right of Way Officer - PROW

Stretton Footpaths

Stretton Parish Council is working on a new Project for two village maps, detailing the walks around Stretton and the surrounding villages

Once complete, these will be located in both Stretton and Lower Stretton

What is a Public Right of Way?

There are 10 rights of way within the Parish of Stretton, these are shown in purple on the map opposite. Stretton's boundary is shown in blue, with draft PROW footpaths as proposed by Warrington Borough Council in red

The PROW Officer is asked to regularly walk these public footpaths and bridle-paths in order to identify any concerns regarding access, stiles, signage and obstructions, which are then reported to Warrington Borough Council

PROW OFFICER - JOHN PATTERSON

Stretton Parish Council has been very pleased to welcome John Patterson into the role of PROW Officer. John was appointed in December 2020 and within his capacity of PROW Officer, he will be monitoring the rights of way within the Parish by regularly walking the public footpaths and bridle-paths in order to identify any concerns regarding access, styles, signage and obstructions, which are then reported to Warrington Borough Council, to ensure our beautiful countryside can be enjoyed freely

John Patterson Biog

I have lived in Stretton for over 20 years, having moved down from the Lake District

Married to Janet we have two children, both attending St Matthew’s school, who now live and work overseas

I am a Chartered Engineer and scientist with a career in the energy industry, including spells working abroad and the management of large multinational teams. I finally retired in 2020 as Technical Director and member of the Management Board

In my spare time, I try to keep fit at the pool/gym as well as walking in the local Cheshire countryside. I am a member of Lancashire County Cricket Club, volunteer with the National Trust (since 2012) and attempt to tame our garden (under supervision)

I am passionate about retaining our ‘green and pleasant land’ and ensuring that future generations will be able to benefit, physically and mentally, from fresh air and beautiful countryside
