Update from Cheshire Police - Halloween 2020 - posted 22/10/2020 (Warrington - High Risk) -
Alert message sent 22/10/2020 13:05:00
Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary
|So Halloween is going to be a bit different this year. It's important that|
children still have the opportunity to enjoy these events but we need
to do it in a Covid-friendly style.
It has been suggested that we get our children to colour in a poster and
put this up in the window, similar to the rainbows during the summer.
We can dress our children up in their fancy dress outfits and walk round
the local area (no groups bigger than 6) and for every poster spotted the
parent gives their child a treat.

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL - ALL CORONAVIRUS UPDATES CAN BE LOCATED VIA THIS LINK
5 October 2020 - Warrington Borough Council's (WBC) Local Plan has been 'paused' - we have received the following correspondence from WBC's Planning Department
I am emailing to confirm that Warrington Borough Council is pausing work on its Local Plan, in response to the impact of COVID-19, along with the Government’s proposed planning reforms and new housing calculation methodology.
The delay aims to give the Council time to reflect and be confident that the Local Plan submitted for examination is the right one for Warrington, given the events of this year and the effects they are likely to have for years to come.
It is anticipated that the Council will now be in a position to progress with the Local Plan in the summer of 2021.
Further details are provided on the Council’s web site:
The Council is now preparing to upload all representations made to the Proposed Submission Version Local Plan onto the Council’s website so that people can view them. This will include ensuring as many representations as possible are accessible for people with disabilities, such as visual impairment. The representations will be uploaded and available to view over the coming weeks.
You have received this email as according to our records you have submitted a consultation response to the Local Plan or have asked to be kept updated on Local Plan progress. If you wish to be removed from our Local Plan database and no longer receive these updates, then please contact the Planning Policy & Programmes Team on 01925 442826 or via email at Localplan@warrington.gov.uk

Warrington Borough Council Local Plan
6th November 2018
The following email has today been received from Warrington Borough Council
Warrington Borough Council is continuing to work on the delivery of its draft Local Plan, which will set out the proposed approach to meeting the Borough’s future need for homes, jobs and supporting infrastructure.
Within the last 2 weeks the Government has proposed further changes to the formula that will establish the minimum number of homes that Warrington will need to plan for. The Government is consulting on these changes until Friday 7 December 2018.
It is important that the Council has clarity over the changes to the national planning rules in order to understand what this means for Warrington. The Council has therefore decided that it has no option but to delay the publication of its draft Local Plan.
It is now anticipated that the draft Local Plan will be published in March 2019, prior to a further round of public consultation.

WE ARE PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE GOVERNMENT REVERSED THE DECISION TO SEE SEX OFFENDERS SERVING THE REMAINDER OF THEIR SENTENCE AT APPLETON THORN OPEN PRISON
Original Article dated 25 July 2018
Warrington Guardian reported the above news today, with Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire issuing the following comment
David Keane, police and crime commissioner for Cheshire, said: "I was made aware of the
government’s decision to authorise HMP Thorn Cross to accept category D men convicted of
sexual offences by the end of the year yesterday afternoon via a verbal update from the
prison. I subsequently received a letter from Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service
(HMPPS) to inform me of this change.
"I haven't been consulted regarding this decision; a decision which will have obvious
implications for the local community. I have written to the government requesting an urgent
meeting to discuss why this prison has been chosen, especially considering its proximity to
local housing and with it being situated directly opposite a primary school.
"As the elected representative for the people of Cheshire for criminal justice, this decision
causes me serious concern, and I have requested that the Minister responsible comes to
Warrington to address local residents and community representatives directly, prior to any
further implementation of this decision".

Stretton Parish Council and Warrington South Police would like the help of the local residents to find the person(s) responsible for the damage to the newly erected village sign
The act of obliterating 'STRETTON' from the sign suggest that this was a premeditated action rather than a random act of vandalism and this is why we are seeking YOUR help
Cost to repair this sign could exceed £700 and both the police and the Parish Council will take all the necessary steps to find and prosecute those responsible
We ask anyone with any information relating to this incident please contact;
